Think about buying a Samsung 50-inch 1080p DLP HDTV?

This is a popular HDTV DLP model and a best seller in many stores. It has been for just over half had been-a-year, and the customer base and comments has grown enough that we now have a good feel for its pros and can get disadvantages. I have a number of customer reviews from around the net profit. General opinion is that HDTV model is good and cheap, but not perfect.

Here's a useful rule isRule of thumb: If you buy an HDTV, the audience experience with distance in feet and multiply that with 5 This is the size of the screen you need. For example, if your course is just 10 meters, 10 times 5 is 50 To select a 50-inch TV.

Good Points

Although Samsung 50-inch 1080p DLP HDTV first came on the market, it was one of the cheaper 50-inch HDTVs. Now that the model is six months old, it's even cheaper if you buy it on-line retailers like Amazon. Youexpected to be approximately $ 500 savings off the list price to see. You also save on certain tax and shipping. Also, if you find that the price between the time you have is like the TV and the time you receive it, you can ask the dealer to refund the difference. Well-known companies like Amazon actually honor such requests.

Although most of the electronics out of date quickly, this HDTV was cutting edge when it came out. It had already been 1080p resolution – manyChannels are still catching up to this latest standard. Already, the technology is well advanced and will probably remain so for the next few years.

Samsung 50-inch 1080p DLP HDTV uses an advanced technology called LED light engine. What this means for you is that the images are clear and detailed and the colors, of course, and true. Movement and action is much better made than normal LCD technology, and you will not see blurring or loss of detail. This HDTVdoes well even in bright rooms with plenty of natural light penetration.

With a 2-speaker surround sound is of good quality. Make sure the surround sound mode is on. HD broadcasts look great on a simple, cheap, indoor antenna will receive. Other content (Regular DVDs, SD / HD broadcasts, Nintendo Wii, DVD, Xbox 360, etc.) also look fantastic.

You probably already know its dimensions: 45.2 "(W) x 31.8 (H) is thinner x 13.4 (D) 61.3 Lbs. The 50-inch DLP HDTVthan many of its competitors, and is light enough for 2 people to move around.

There are plenty of inputs for connecting HDMI, S-Video, RGB, component, digital optical and analog audio, and RCA connectors, and they are located on the right side of the set for easy access – that makes it easy to connect. Unfortunately, this can be a problem if you are watching TV in a cabinet.

Samsung 50-inch DLP HDTV is very user friendly. The manual is good and extensive (though notwritten) for beginners. The remote control is intuitive and the menu system is simple. Note that it is perhaps not as many features as more expensive systems.

Its fairly quiet, as it uses light sources instead of the normal light bulb and color wheel of most other LED DLPs. Since the LED engine is cooler and more energy efficient than the light bulb and color wheel, Samsung 50-inch DLP HDTV does not need a powerful fan. Overall, you will save good energy – it is energyStar rated. Another good point is that the LED is longer than the normal light bulb lasts DLPs (which must be changed every 2 or 3 years).

Some of you may have about how faulty goods by buying online retailers nervous. The large and reputable companies like Amazon have to ensure is usually a 30-day period. If any problems arise, they have to honor a good reputation, to replace its obligations or refund the TV. If you are unsure about your online merchant, you can review theirReputation with the Better Business Bureau.

Customer problems

Purchase this DLP HDTV is not perfect, though. Customers have reported 3 main types of problems.

1) Delivery & Service Issues:

a) Some people complain about not receiving their TV sets. This is more to be done with an online retailer with its complex supply chain and delivery process – either do not deliver their orders through the vendor received the TV to the onlineDealers, brokers or the delivery did not receive the correct delivery from suppliers, etc. There are precautions you can take to minimize problems (see below).

b) Sometimes you find a lazy, incompetent or messenger. It may not be in a position to the place, you can find live. Or he does not want to deliver to the front door. Or he can just drop your TV at the bus stop outside the door and refuse to by into it for you. On the other hand, there are also stories of deliverymen that go beyond the call to goDuty – they help you to move your old TV to the new location, then they bring your new Samsung 50-inch 1080p DLP HDTV in and install it for you. Then take the packing crate for you. Sometimes they do it for free, sometimes you have to condemn, to give them a few dollars extra.

c) There are also some complaints about poor customer service from Samsung. It is the service is typically a large company – if you have a good customer representative, you'll get good service. It helps if youher name ahead of time, before you tell them about their problems or raised questions about starting. If you get a jerk, you get lousy service. Do not get mad, get their name and escalate to their boss. If that does not work, get a refund or replacement from your dealer.

2) Quality control issues affect individual TVs:

a) The dreaded "blue-halo" effect, which is basically a blue-ish area of the light that is visible in dark areas with high contrast scenes, to the lowerMiddle of the screen. This seems to be a ring around the lens of the projector, which should be black are caused, but is reflective silver in some television equipment.

b) It is "hot" or bright spot in the middle of the screen and the center is slightly brighter than the edges.

c) If the entire screen one color, sometimes the four corners of the TV fade in brightness.

d) The image is distorted (left side below the right), there is a clear green color that is not correctable onone of the user settings.

e) image switches for minutes or hours at a time – what could be a motherboard problem.

f) spots on the screen – which can be an unfixable LED light engine problem.

If the problem appears in the online dealer warranty period (usually 1 month), then call Samsung service and they will send a technician in about 2 business days to resolve the problem. Otherwise, use the warranty period for your discount price on a GET –Replacement. Reputable online retailers like Amazon are pretty good about keeping their promises guaranteed without hassling their customers.

3) problems with the model or HDTV DLP technology, which affect all TVs:

a) SD images via digital cable (connected via HDMI), sometimes a bit pixilated.

b) Small amount of curvature on horizontal lines at the top of the amount for which a common artifact (this kind) – is generally not noticeable.

c) SmallIncompatibility with 480p resolution settings and DirecTV (DirecTV call your customer service on some satellite technician number to get it)

d) echo when you both TV speakers and surround sound speakers and have the volume is high. Just mute the TV, or 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

e) In view non-HD programming in 4:3-mode, there are a number of double lines on the edge of the image. This can also be irritating for some people.

f) When playing a widescreen or letterboxDVD in 16:9 or zoom settings are a little off. The center of the image at the top is almost 3 / 4 inch lower than at the ends of a slight "U"-shape or concave appearance. This can also be very disturbing for some people.

g) Light geometry problems (noticeable bowing towards the top center of the screen)

h) On a non-stretch mode with SD (wo) man on a black bar on both sides of the picture, the sides of the picture bowed in a bit.

i) Dispersionis limited, when you have gathered a large number of people around him sucks. Just make sure you are in the middle and can see the screen. The viewing angle is well over 140 degrees, although it is best up to 90 degrees. However, this is normal performance for DLPs. Basically, the best place in the sofa watching television, even though every seat on the love just as good a picture.

Precautions to

1) If you at an online retailersuch as Amazon, make sure the TV is turned on sold directly by Amazon. Amazon sometimes acts as a showcase for other companies. This means that the existing corporate customers, not from Amazon. How can you say? Using this theorem to the 1 Amazon lists page after the "price" of the TV – "Availability: In stock. And sold by Amazon.com sells." More online retailer should do something similar.

2) Print your receipt. While this is common sense, sometimes we forget. Or something elsehappens, for example, breaks off the printer. When this happens, take a screenshot and save the image to Microsoft Word.

3) Remember: You are likely to buy online to take advantage of lower costs and shipping. Do not expect 5-star service. Take the initiative to find out the actual contact between the provider and deliverer, so you do not track of your order and delivery can deliver. Access the online retailer's customer support if you have any doubts.

4) If you think itis a problem with your Samsung 50-inch 1080p DLP HDTV, you will benefit from the 30-day warranty period will receive a replacement or refund. 'll Have no problems for 3 months before complaining. At this stage it is too late.
